About to install my new steering cable, made a new aluminum console plate to install the steering wheel/rotary system on, wondering what the correct size hole is for the steering shaft, the directions do not say, thanks in advance
I don't have my instructions in front of me, but the helm part has 3 threaded holes that surround the shaft. you will want the hole in your dash to be slightly larger than those 3 holes including the outer rim. When you marry the helm (from the back) to the cover plate (in the front) the leading edge of those 3 holes should come up flush with the plate when you install the screws to attach the helm to the plate.
If it is not flush you will not be able to properly mount your steering wheel as it will not slide far enough on to cover the woodruff key. (Don't ask how I know this)
