precision blend troubles

I have a 2001 115hp yamaha. My main tank is overflowing with oil and the yellow (orange) oil warning light is turned on. Out of the main tank, the oil level sensor is working. I bench tested while sliding the magnet up the shaft. The top position (tank is full) is on when I place the sensor in the tank. As soon as I turn the key the oil pump starts again and does not stop. The sensor in the reserve tank had a wire break off, maybe this would cause the light but it's also supposed to shut off the pump when that sensor is triggered. And I thought they weren't supposed to pump unless the boat was running?

Does it sound like the brain is fried?

Re: precision blend troubles

the original oil control module used a mercury switch to prevent oil transfer if the unit was tilted, it did not have any engine run detect circuits. with the sensor wire broken the control unit will set the yellow remote tank low indicate but should cease oil transfer.
with the wire repaired and the yellow lamp off dissconect the engine oil tank leads, jumper the white lead to ground and the pump should shut off.
if it does not then either the wire is broken or the control unit is bad.

Re: precision blend troubles

I repaired the broken wire on the reserve tank. That made the orange light turn off, but the pump still runs. Turns out this is an 1987 motor, they just purchased it in 2001! Big difference huh? Anyway, I rigged up a temporary system that runs the pump direct from the switches in the main tank's level sensor. Anyone have a working oil control module they wanna sell?
