Preheat switch on Larson 1961

I own a Larson 1961 with a 1969 evinrude 85hp.
I have a preheat switch on console which has one wire disconnected.
Is there any use for it and if so can someone help with wiring.
Would also hear from any Larson owners in that year range.

Pre-heat switch? What does it pre-heat? Never heard of such a thing. Is this from the North Pole or what?

Done some thinking and I concluded the boat may have been originaly equipped with a diesel engine. That would explain the pre-heat switch.
Let me know what you think.
