Great site.
I've got a 45 hp chrysler (445HC?) where the timing is completely shot. We played blindly trying to solve a problem of uneasy running and large amounts of excess fuel in the trail. Here in Sweden distance to parts and knowledge on these chryslers is far. I have one on the boat, one in the cellar and two in pieces. I've read back through your site through pages and pages on chrysler/Force and found many ideas I'll be trying.
Compression is good. Spark I'll be checking asap. Plesae help me regards the timing/ignition.
Am i right in reading that the timing at low turnover should be 30 degrees before TDC?
Should the points be set to .015" and the plugs to 0.030"?
And please any tips about a rough setting for the timing advance rod.
I WILL be ordering a manual.
Also. On one motor the timing plate (called stator?) was grounded by a wire to the block(powerhead?) on one engine, but not on the other. What is this significance and how should it be?
Our boating season is short enough as it is. Most of the year the lake is either freezing, frozen or thawing.
Any help would be truely appreciated.
