Just wanted to say a belated THANK YOU!
The pontoons are great fun.We are enjoying camping with the grand kids and making some great memories.

Thank you,we are having fun with it. They sure are different to dock in the wind, but we are getting used to it. The lake is Silverwood in California.

Re: Premier Sunsation 220 RL

Do any of you have advise on the best type of anchor and beach spikes? We are looking at box anchors and beach sand spikes for overnight camping in a cove. On lake Mojave the wind kicks up and the water levels go up and down over night. Last season it was tough to keep it from moving, as the sides act like a sail. We kept checking the water level by watching the rocks and waterline. We used to camp with our bowrider, but the pontoon is different. Has anybody ever tried tree savers? We used to have horses and camp in the wilderness. With horses you highline using tree savers. The cove we like is secluded with large boulders around. I was thinking of using the treesavers and dockline tied to each cleat at the corners and leaving the boat free floating overnight. Is this a bad idea? I will try to post some pictures of treesavers and the cove.

We'd love to have two tops. Instead we have a large beach umbrella up front

looking at your bumpers, can you tell me where you got the clips holding them to the boat/rail -- I just purchased a
cast-away and would like a similar set up for my toon

thanks

They came with our boat from Premier. I don't know if they sell them on their site, maybe. They are nice though, made from velcro with an eyelet. Maybe they have them in boat supply stores too, I haven't checked.

Re: Premier Sunsation 220 RL

We use a sand spike for our wave runners and pontoon (a Premier also!)

They're a bit pricey but work extremely well and hold in virtually all conditions--

Sandspike? The Ultimate Beach Anchor

(No relation to the company--just a happy customer!)

And Premier sells the Velcro fender straps and stainless loops they thread through on their accessories page-- I added two more to my pontoon. Can't remember the exact price but I thought they were reasonable.

Jetboater,
Yes, I have heard the sand spikes are good and we have decided to pick one up. The store told me to use one and center it in front of the bow on the beach. Has that worked for you with a rear anchor/anchors off the stern?Thank you!

Silver Eagle,
We haven't used the double bimini as much as I thought. It is nice when everybody can spread out and not have to cram into the shade, but they are a little tricky to sip together. When its just my husband and I, we only use the back one.The umbrella is a nice idea and you can take it down quickly if needed. It is all about what works, right?

I have heard that box anchors hold extremely well, especially in sand or muddy lake bottoms. But they can be a bit pricey. I stumbled across this "DIY" site last year and have been meaning to build a couple of these, but just haven't done it yet.

DIY Box Anchor Plans and Information

Congrats on your new toon. Looks really nice and I think you'll have many years of enjoyment.

If the shore is sandy, we usually put the sandspike in the water at the edge of the shore so it's "below" the boat. We try to push it in as far as we can (just step on it and it'll go in easily.). Make sure to put it in at a slight angle (top leaning away from the boat). You can pull it out very easily by pulling straight up on the rope--since it's tapered, it comes right out.

If the shore is dirt, then we put it on the shore or in the water depending on which is easier to push it into (kinda hard to push it into dry dirt).

I thought $50 was a ridiculous price for it til I started using it-- works great. Some of the color is scraping off mine but since it's aluminum it doesn't hurt anything.

Using one of these up front with an anchor off the back works very well to keep the boat from moving
around.

Never had the sand spike come loose (we just use it during the day-- we don't camp on our pontoon so I haven't tried it for overnight mooring)

Thank you for the info on the anchors. We are going to try a trip for a few days next month and want to be secure

Re: Premier Sunsation 220 RL

I got a new box anchor for Christmas. I have not been out on the boat yet, but will report back. I was tired of danforth anchors NOT holding in the mud / sand / stone bottom of our lake. It was pricey but the reviews sold me. I hope the hype is real! Nothing worse then drifting when you think you are secure.

I have seen one in the marine store where we bought ours. It was a Grand Entertainer with a kitchen and a bar. A floating living room on the water. Beautiful. I was told they corner more like a fiberglass hull boat and are pretty nice.We do love our Premier and are very happy with it. We liked the finish quality and some of the creature comforts. They have drop down seats so your not reaching over the tops to load. Like the way the biminis are constructed very sturdy and they have a quick snap in, no pins to drop. The j clip system for the cover is great too, no dealing with snaps that get crushed or pull away from the fabric.Love our back extended deck. If you look in the picture where it is beached at the lake, the deck is large enough to fish off of, walk around the motor, hook up for a tube etc. Try a boat show to maybe see one or catch a demo ride. Where are you located? I was only able to see the Lowe boats when I visited Texas, but they were nice, just didn't have what we were looking for and it was far from home.

Re: Premier Sunsation 220 RL

Your Premiers are premium boats, with fantastic upholstery and fencing. You're out of the G3/Lowe/Suntracker class. Your boat is more in there with Bennington, Harris, Manitou, Avalon and South Bay pontoons in quality.
Your boat should give you many, many years of great service.
My old pontoon boat gave me 27 good years. I've had my Bennington 2 years, and we're enjoying long river cruises on the Tennessee River.
We put in a 125 mile in August. This Summer, we're going to put in at Chattanooga and travel 200 miles downriver to Muscle Shoals--spending the night at a hotel on the water in Guntersville.
