I have a 1985 200hp Black Max that I'd like to (maybe) convert over to premix fuel.
What are the the operational pro's and con's of going premix?

It currently runs good, very good, but I dont trust it, and in all the 20 years or so I've been around this boat I've never heard it make a beep or a peep when its started up....I'm not sure the warning system is functional.

Lastly, and most importantly, how would I properly convert my engine to premix?
MERCURY - (200 H.P. (1985 ))
Serial No: 0A148209 Model No: 1200725

Thanks a bunch!

Re: Premix conversions

Anyone?
Do they idle fine without loading up on premix, an so on?

I keep reading about a replacement shaft that keeps a bushing in place.
Where do I get this "blank" shaft and/or a kit to convert to premix?

Re: Premix conversions

Hi

I got the advice to keep the oil pump as is, and disconnect the transparent oil hose going out from the oil pump at the "T" and reconnect to the inlet on the oil reservoir- Just lika a loop. The oil will just be pumped around. The gas hose directly connected to the fuel pump. In that way you have minimum work and still have all components if someone want to get the oil injection back in operation.
