I sanded the outside of the hull tonight and about 1/2 of the inside. I sanded the back of the stern to bare metal; easy to do because it's flat.
I found it impractical and difficult to attempt to sand the hull to bare metal. The old Sea King has too many uneven surfaces. I did read that removing the loose paint will be sufficient. I did give it a good scuff and smoothed out the rough spots. Feels pretty smooth.
The upper part of the inside and the stern has a rough coating; not sure what it is but I sanded it just a tad for better adhesion and removal of any buildup. When the sanding is done, should I Gluvit the rivets and seams or prep with acid etch first?
Should I spray the paint or use the roll and tip method? What is the "tip" part of this?
Does the etch act as the primer? For paint, I see that many use Marine Rustoleum. I am planning on white for the outside and some shade of green for the inside.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
