I have my new Pressure Control Valve for my 1999 90C Yamaha. Black plastic piece with an "X" shape extension on each end and a black rubber grommet-looking item, and a spring. One of the "X" shaped extensions is longer than the other one...which "X" does the black rubber grommet-looking item go on, the long "X" or the shorter"X"? I'm trying very hard not to screw this up and any thanks for any assistance!;)

Re: Pressure Control Valve

I would think the grommet goes on the motor not valve. Read about loosing old one into motor when trying to remove it, so be careful

Is one end of valve rounded and the other flat?

Re: Pressure Control Valve

This "new style" Pressure Control Valve has "X" shaped extensions on each end, one is longer and a bit smaller than the other. The instructions mention a "Mushroom" shaped end, but I don't see anything like that?

Re: Pressure Control Valve

Sorry I cannot help, never looked at one before. My C40 does not have one.
maybe you can find a pic on the web.
Does the smaller side fit better into the grommet after it is installed into motor?

Re: Pressure Control Valve

Maybe after I take this apart it will become obvious how it goes, but the "X" ends of the valve are different length and different diameter, and that's what's throwing me off...sorta hoping someone with a similar rig might have some experience with this...so I don't screw up and put it in backwards or something!

Re: Pressure Control Valve

Mine has an "X" on both ends, no "mushroom", so it's hard to tell which end goes towards the motor, the short"X" or the longer"X"? Mine is the "new updated style pressure control valve that replaces all older styles"....wish it had just some instructions with it to put my mind at ease on how it goes!...Maybe Rodbolt knows?...
