(1993 225 90 deg).

I want to service the pressure relief valve grommet but noticed the housing is tucked in underneath the CDI unit and just barely above the level of the bottom housing. I just did the thermostats (see other post) and there was a lot of work cleaning off old gasket but the tstats were accessible as it gets. Any hints for getting at this thing - should the CDI unit be moved out of the way? Looks like replacing grommet could be awkward, not to mention gasket residue scraping = or is there some solvent that will automagically clean it?

hello
I never remove the cdi. undo the two 10mm hex headed bolts and tap the cover sideways. usually it wont damage the gasket. clean the pocket with a bent pick or a 12ga barrel brush on a drill. use a long screw driver to reposition the cover. if the bolts come out its a 20 min operation. good luck and keep posting

it's tight, but the cdi can stay. you may need a third hand to hold the housing during re-installation.

if you use hylomar gasket dressing, you'll never have to scrap a gasket again. wonderfull stuff.
