Re: Pressure tank question.
Dont believe everything you read on the internet. While his article is informative and useful, there are some "untruths" throughout it.
Pressure tanks are no more difficult to operate than any other fuel tank. You dont need to "pressurize" the tank as he states. The motor pressurizes the tank for you. All you do is simply fill the carb bowl as you would on any single line tank. That is what the button on the tank does, in lieu of a ball on a single line tank.
While depressurizing at the end of the day should be done, I wouldnt classify cracking the cap a real chore, lol.
While holding the fuel tank up in the air will get you home due to gravity feed as he says if the tank fails to hold pressure, the same would be true if your fuel pump conked out on the water. Same thing.
If anyone has first hand experience with a tank exploding, or anyting of the sort, please report it here. I have many, many pressure tanks, and run them daily, and have never had an issue like that. I also have many friends in the AOMCI that run these pressure tanks daily, and have never heard of that happening. I suppose it could, under certain conditions, but not something that I would lose sleep over.
Now Im not saying you should never convert to fuel pump. I have done it on many motors myself. I just want to clear up some untruths about pressure tanks. They are not the devil
