pressure test block for water leak - how?

I have 92 evinrude 150 hp 60 degree v6 motor with a suspected water leak in the no. 1 cylinder. Dhadley said that a pressure test could be done to confirm. Just curious - What is involved in such a test? any special equipment required? how do you plug the holes? approx. cost or hours if dealer performs?

He may have been thinking compression test, which would indicate a blown head gasket or casting flaw in the gasket mating surface.
