Can someone explain the metho of pressure testing a 3.0 head. Specifically I would like to know what psi and duration that it should be tested for. Has anyone tested a pressurized head with soapy water

Is the engine together or is the head off the engine?

If still in one piece, do a compression test to begin. Never heard of doing a pressure test on a head by itself. I can learn if it's possible.

If your getting water in a cylinder or oil its most likely a corroded hole under an exaust valve. Best way is to take it to a shop, remove the valves and magna-flux it

Yes the head is off and valves out. Pressure testing a head is done routinely on auto heads to test for cracks. I was wondering if anyone has done one on a mercrusier

Pressure testing a head isn't really a diy job. Would cost u more to make up a unit to do it. I suggest magna Flux. .

No difference between 'routinely on an auto head' and 'mercruiser'. Same thing, exact same process and components.
