pressurized fuel tank

Could someone tell me what a fuel pump disc valve [part no. 301802] inside a pressurized tank does. I got this tank and when I went to rebuild it it didn't have this part. The guy that sold me the motor told me that I needed to replace the tank.I thought I could just rebuild it with a kit but now I'm missing that part. A lways something I guess

Not sure what it does, yet... Doing the research now...

Its been a while since I rebuilt my tank but I think it is like a pressure relief valve. Too much pressure builds up, lifts the disk, pressure escapes out hole above disk. but I may be wrong.
