Yup, another one of these threads. going to take a look at it on tuesday I believe. Boat in question is a 1991 starcraft superfisherman 190. No motor, no trailer. Solid, straight hull. No leaks. Working steering and gauges. Interior rough but still solid. He is asking 2k.

I know, its vague. Just looking for a ballpark figure to work with. My gut is telling me that I would like to pay around $1500 for it, but I have been looking at older supersports, most junk. So low balling is in my nature right now. Is 2k out of line for this hull?

Only 2 pics I have for right now.

Rough interior, no drive at all and no trailer? Sorry bro, he'd be paying me to pick it up and get it outta' his way.

This is spring so boats are at a premium, maybe that's what is putting a price tag on it. But come fall - this boat is a hulk that no one would buy for more than a coupla' hundred.

With no motor, how can you be sure the steering works? It's not going to run on the water for you, so how are you sure there are no leaks? You can't water test it, right?

If it were me ... wait a month or two longer, save up another $500 or $1,000 and then start looking. $2,500 to $3,000 and you can probably dig up a lake ready boat.

And no rego numbers on a 21 year old hull. Title problems? And all those good points are only the sellers words and can't be proved or disproved.

I agree that it is overpriced. It's hard to find a superfisherman in this price range. I don't really wan't a lake ready boat, I have a trailer and a 140 that I'm looking for a hull for. the reg number thing is a good question. Hmm...

If the interior is rough that's an indication of a deck and maybe even transom job too (pour in foam to boot). So bare hull, no engine, no trailer, total rebuild?

Sweet hull, but not at $2K. Bummer:(

well, he called me today. I set up and apointment to look at it tomorrow morning. Never hurts to look right? After talking to him for a bit, It became fairly obvios that he just wanted to get the thing out of his shop. He bought the boat with a motor that needed a little work 5 years ago. Turns out the motor was blown and he never replaced it. After talking shop a little, his bottom line price is $800. Not shure what to do now. Seeing some of your comments, it seems that is still way overpriced.

$800? Now we are getting somewhere;)

I'd walk into that deal thinking that the deck/foam/interior needs to be replaced. Why? Well, if it's been sitting out for the past 5 years braving the elements, yah, prolly shot. So, great rebuildable hull for $800? I'm a horrible bottom feeder so I may try to squeeze in under that:D

You've got an engine and trailer, 8 bills for that hull is a steal, the thing is perfect, no dents or dings and it is a Starcraft, I would pull the trigger on that in a heart beat as long as the title is straight even if you have to rebuild it the hull is beautiful.

As for the numbers, they do come off, maybe the PO peeled them before he sold it, as long as the has a title you are good, DO IT!

Oh yah, my words about rebuilding are certainly worst case. You may only need a box of magic erasers and an afternoon of clean up duty! Either way, I'm with 5150, buy it:D

A little hard to tell how perfect the hull based on one 3/4 pic of the hull. And since reg. nos. stay with a boat unless it changes states, it makes no sense to pull them off. But like you said as long as there is a title.

Now TnCan, I might go $800 (maybe) if he throws in the trailer, otherwise about $500 if he has a title in his name. If he says no, then just thank him for his time. Why 500 you might ask. Well it's been sitting for 5 years. Maybe all those things are true about the condition - 5 YEARS AGO. How far away is it? Drive by after a week or two or three and if its still sitting in his yard give him a call. I don't think people will be beating down his door to buy a boat with no trailer and no motor that's been sitting in a field for 5 years with critters homesteading and chewing wires.

My 2 cents.

Nice looking boat for $800 bucks!

Offer him $650 and see if he bites.

the boat has been stored out of the weather in his shop for the 5 years he has owned it. OR so he says. lol. The boat is registered in Del. A no title state. He has the plastic reg card that del gives him. I talked to a notary here in pa, aslong as its the official reg card, pa is ok with that and will issue a title for the boat after purchase. We shall see.

oh, and I am treating it like its going to be a full rebuild. wife would not have anything but a bowrider, so I need to convert the front casting deck anyway. I have also done some reading, it does have the dreaded pour in foam. Starcraft used it in 91. /sigh....

Might be a winner if you can register it without a problem.

I have this exact boat with a 135 hp merc on it. It is a steal at 800 with or without a trailer. seats are cheap on ebay or try a marina for new take outs. This is a great hull and a great fishing platform. There is no wood stringers to worry about so even if the foam is bad it is not that big of a deal to replace the floor and foam. The transom has some wood but is mostly aluminum. By the way a guy in Kenosha WI just sold his for 10K. I would not sell mine for any less than that as well. A new replacement will cost you 36k now. Thats boat motor and trailer

Actually , here in Mass, the boat numbers stay with the OWNER, so if you were to buy my boat, you would have to re register it and get new numbers............also up here, there are some private lakes that can only be used by the people that live on it, no public access at all. Many if not most of them never register the boat, legal, no, but noone really does anything about it at all............

so, get the HIN and have your friends in PA run a search, if it comes out clean, by all means PULL THE TRIGGER and GIT-R-DONE

well, back from looking at the boat. All I can say is wow. I can confirm that this thing has been sitting in his shop for the 5 years he has owned it. It was a little dark, but from what I can see, the paint is in pretty good shape. I saw a few dings, but nothing bad. What he called rough interior is not bad at all. Everything is solid, with the carpet and vinyl being a little rough and has a few stains. With a few touches and my outboard, this boat is very usable as she sits and not bad to look at cosmeticly. Oh, and not to mention the 4 new seats that he included. $800 bucks well spent. She wont be coming home until next week sometime, being parked in by a 20' seacraft project and a beutiful 26' regulator that he owns. sorry, no pics for now. I will have a bunch next week when I pick it up. Ty all for your input and advice. Looks like I'm a soon to be member of the starmada if you all will have me.
