Price Negotiation

As a general rule do dealers of new boat bargain on the price, as car dealers, or do they stay with the listed price? I may be interested in a new bass boat.

Thanks
Terry

You don't say where you are, but most places it's summer. Dealers don't have any incentive to negotiate right now.Wait till the threat of cold sets in and they'll gladly negotiate to get them out of inventory.

They deal as much, if not more, than car dealers. The longer you can wait, the better. I tried to buy in August, and the best deal I could get was 26K on a 28K MSRP. By November, a similar boat from the same dealer was advertised at 22K.

A smart dealer will be willing to negotiate at any time of the year. Especially on a new boat where replacing it is as simple as a fax to the factory.

They sure will. Let them know you are shopping and their line is not the only one you are considering. Don't believe the govt BS, the economy is not that great.

I think I got around 20K off of sticker on my boat. They will roll dice with you if you are going to pull the trigger.
