Pricing on repairs

I have a 1989 40 hp evinrude and need the seals redone in the lower unit and a new impellar. What should I expect to pay for these services?

Standard job. Call some local marinas/shops and just ask. I'd pull the lower unit and just bring that in.. save on some labor.

If you pulled the g/c and took it in you could also have it pressuer & vacuumed checked before they took it apart.

If you have any kind of mechanical inclination do it yourself and save some money. Seal kit about $70 Impeller about $25 the hardest part is pulling the bearing Carrier to do the prop shaft seal. Should take about 4 hours.

I would guess (just a shot in the dark) around $350.00 2.5 hours in labor plus $125.00 in parts.
