I'm working on a1969 Mercruiser 160 inline 6 and have a question about the master/slave solenoid, which is which? I've got one under the manifold and one on the starter and am trying to figure out the proper place to hook in a bump starter....

Thanks,

Steven

Re: Primary and secondary starter solenoid ?

What is a bump starter?
Assuming :)rolleyes: I should know better) that you mean one of those emergency start packs. You need to hook that to the main battery terminal on the starter.

A hand held switch that allows you to turn the starter over while observing the motor.

Re: Primary and secondary starter solenoid ?

slave solenoid is the one mounted under the manifold

starter solenoid is mounted on the starter itself

connect your remote start switch to the slave solenoid:

one end on the small post with the yel/red wire, other end to the large post with the red wire
