Primer bulb is rock hard / without any fuel in the tank, tryed to relieve pressure

I just bought a boat that hasn't been run for years. They drained the gas out of the two 12gal tanks. It was outside in the oklahoma heat and I think it built up pressure in the tanks. Im wondering if theirs a way to relieve the pressure from the tank/primer bulb. Ive tried opening the tanks, sticking something in the Barb fuel line connector. I cant think of anything else to do, but cut the fuel line befor the bulb and see if that relieves pressure. Any thoughts would be great. thx

Right off hand I would take off the gas tank fill cap, that would relive any pressure in the tank altho the tank should be vernted in the first place and not have any pressure in it, and primer bulbs will get rock hard just from age.

ahh ok maybe its just from age then, its been outside for years in very dry hot heat/cold in Oklahoma. I've tried the fill caps, and it does have vents on the side of the boat. I'll pull that primer bulb off then and see what happens. I was a little worried because it feels so pressurized. thx Hawker

Before you run out to get just the primer bulb, take a look at all the fuel hoses in the fuel system...they're likely shot as well. Take note of the diameters and lengths and be sure to get new clamp fittings for all. It's no fun to have a full tank of gas and not be able to get it to the motor. Check the pick ups inside the tank, too...they could be toast.

Thats prob a good idea coastalrichard. I can pull the tanks out then too and clean them out as well. Its just a pain in the *** getting under the side of the boat to disconnect and reconnect the hoses, Ill look into it. Thx, man
