what does that mean?
does the electric pump keep running as long as the key is in the on position maybe?

I would not think that is what is suppose to happen,
maybe it is sucking air instead of liquid fuel.
but I know nothing about that old motor

I can call it the way I see it on this Yamaha.
That motors excessive number of parts.

All right well....the clicking stopped from fuel pump....and now boat won't run so there we have it....any idea of what fuel pressure should be so I can replace the high pressure pump

Get a accurate cheap voltage meter. I think your battery is running way down in power. Check the voltage with the ignition key in the RUN position.
Do you have enough electrical experience to do the voltage check ? If not ? you can damage things. Including yourself.
With both the main and the kicker motor doing the same thing ? If you have electrical fuel pumps ? Battery voltage can affect both motor. Get a marine mechanic who does Yamaha motors. Good luck.

???-----The motor should start and run with fuel pumped into the carburetors with primer bulb.-----Buying a new ( $$$ ) electric fuel pump might not be a wise step.

I figured it out and all it was was air in the system . Once the fuel pump got primed and it was back to normal.i need a wiring diagram that makes sense to a normal person lol for this engine
