You're pulling a vacuum. Check vent line, vent, anti-syphon valve, tank pickup screen.

Wildone is correct.......and he has put it in the proper order. I have seen many a dirt dobber nest in the vent....good luck.

If its a portable fuel tank, make sure that the vent screw on the cap is open.

your fuel pump diaphram is probably shot

i am having this problem to you mention to check the vent line want and were is this i have a 1974 70hp johnson. i have put in new fuel pump,fuel line to carb and new fuel line with 2 primer bulb and new gas tank

the old fuel pump i took of i took apart it looked to me.but inside is a plastic disc with a spring on it it pushes out but it was of to one side and should be in the centre would this keep the pump from pumping enough gas
