On one of my 1999 yamaha 150 2 stroke Saltwater series II the primer bulb does not get hard after a few squeezes like the other motor.
I can start the motor and squeeze..it will get filled. Could this be a leak in the line somewhere?
What areas of connection should I check?

Michael

Re: Primer bulb not getting hard

There is a check valve in the bulb (one-way-valve), sometimes it fails. You can remove the bulb and se if you can clean it, remeber the direction of it.
If you can't find anything that might affected the checkvalve it may be broken, try to replace the bulb with a new one, buying quality do help you here, this part is out in the sun all time and you don't want it to fail agian...

Re: Primer bulb not getting hard

had this exact problem on the weekend (on Evinrudes though) first step is to get a portable tank and connect it to your primer bulb, mine pumped up hard by doing this, so, problem is between bulb and tank! I replaced the fuel filter and that did not fix issue, so I checkedf uel line from filter to tank (under floor tanks) no problem found but bulb still soft, motor goes OK though. so I replaced the fuel line from bulb to tank and hey presto, hard primer bulb!! there must have been some sort of leak that would not allow bulb to prime hard but motor still ran OK
