I usually use Zinc chromate or Zinc phosphate primer for outdrive and trim tabs.Ran out half way thru .Damn aerosol cans always clog up before empty!! I have a can of rustoleum self etching green aerosol primer which has aluminum listed on the can but does not say zinc content anywhere. If my boat didnt stay in the water for 5 months I wouldnt hesitate to use it. but im wary about using it.ANYONE EVER USE IT??

I have not used it. But I would say, that if this is that critical to you, wait and buy the proper primer to finish the job. Shortcuts seem to always come back to bite you in the butt. JMHO

As far as the can stop praying before empty, search for ways to force air into the can and finish using the remainder of the can. Not that hard to do that.

Self etching won't hold up as well as zinc chromate. Yours is a severe duty situation.

Buy a few extra nozzles and always use a new one when retrieving a used can.
