Primer over Epoxy

So I am building a 30' plywood Epoxy sailboat. I have read some people say that you don't have to prime epoxy boats and it seems like every one that do use primer on epoxy use a epoxy primer. so my question is there any difference between painting over epoxy resin vs painting over epoxy primer? The paint that I am going to be using is a two part urethane ( if that makes any difference).

Re: Primer over Epoxy

IMHO the key is that the epoxy is well cured, sanded, and wiped down with acetone. Then follow the MFG recommendations for the paint you are using as the final coat.

Re: Primer over Epoxy

So just to clarify, in your opinion primer is not necessary? Just to add a little more info about my boat, the epoxy that I am using is non blushing and is made by AeroMarine Products, Inc. Will that make any difference?
