primer/paint ???

im making plans to start my aluminum starcraft resto. what paint should i use ? and what primer ? i was told of a guy today that will blast all the paint off my boat and when its done it should have somewhat of a texture to it ... if so, i should be able to use reg primer ( non-etching ) as there will aready be a surfce to adhere to. does this sound right ? what primer do you guys suggest ? also what paint ? the boat is not going to be sitting in water all the time unless i can find a deal on a slip next summer. is there a diff paint to use for boats that DO stay in the water ( river .. no salt ) im not restoring a show boat or yacht so $200/gal paint in not needed ..im looking for a decent economical paint also .. to do a 2 coat coverage in an 18 ft v hull .. how much paint should i need ? thanks guys scott

NorthBeach and I used rattle can zinc chromate or self etching primer, then Brightsides one part Polyurethane I rolled, He sprayed. It looks like it was sprayed it self levels so well. Others used Rustoleum, and in fact, That is what I used for the Grey. Rick has got some fantastic finish out of rustoleum, I got a little orange peeling.
