I live in Michigan near Detroit. I'm buying a used boat with a Force 150 on it. Is there a professional Force mechanic near where I live? Where do I get parts for the motor? Thanks Mac Attack :)

Re: Pro Force Mechanic

hi , im no pro but im close, i have the same motor, will help when i can, just rebuilding mine now. word of advice, decarb regularly, and watch the gaskets on the water intake side, they tend to blow on these motors, mine did and i didnt know it in time , complete rebuild

parts are really easy to find for this motor, google up fore 150 parts and you will find them

Dave in Toledo when I inspect the boat what should I look for on the 150. Are there any tell tale signs of trouble to look for? Or anyone else with 150 experience. Thanks :)

An in lake/river test drive is a must!!!!!!!
No excuses from the seller. Its a deal breaker.
Load the boat up with fuel and people to approximate weight you will be hauling.
Run it around for a half hour.

Make sure the tilt and trim are working.
Make sure the boat and motor perform up to your expectations.
Then take it to your mechanic and have him go over the engine. Have him check the lower unit, the compression, voltage rectifier/charging system, and anything else that just doesn't look or sound right when you test drive it. The compression readings should be in the 120+ range, and be within 10# of each other.

Paying a mechanic $75 now, could save you $2,000 to $5,000 later.

hahah i ment close in proximity , not close to being a pro...hahah

the 150 has a history of blowing exauste plate gasket, also if the carbs arent in sinc, it will run lean and be running low on lubricant....
