Has anyone owned one of these or know much about them. I have been looking at a 22ft cuddy cabin and think I am getting real close to making up my mind. Just wondering what everyone thinks about them, I don't see many of them for sale so didn't know if everyone was hanging on to them or to scared to buy one.. LOL .. With not many for sale I would think they are good boats.

John H-
Figured I would post a reply for 2 reasons:
1. To move your post up on the list. I can't believe that there have been no replies in one week!!
2. To see how you were doing with a sea trial on the boat as well as any others that may have caught your eye.

Big E

Re: Pro Sport Boats

Did another Sea trial on Saturday and was really impressed with the boat, It's a few thousand higher than other boats I have looked at but seems to be better workmanship, So would think this is one reason it is higher priced. This boat is not as high as a Whaler or Edgewater, but higher than the Trophy's and boats in that class. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't paying a lot more money for a boat that would be equivalant to those. The Trophy's are nice just not the quality I was looking for.

John H-

Glad to hear that you got it out for a run!

I'm curious. Did the dealer put a different prop on it or did they just get the kinks worked out of the motor?

I agree with you on the comparison to the TROPHY.They don't compare! The ProSports,IMO, are some what in the upper mid range of quality boats being produced NOW in terms of materials, craftsmanship, design, standard features and performance.

They added 4 new boats to their line up this year alone, NOT counting a 30' and 32' Cat that's almost ready for production. They have not discontinued any of their boats, so, they are being bought. Don't know why not many are for resale except for reasons already stated. Don't know why there has been little input from other owners, pro or con.

What other boats have you been considering or evaluated?

Re: Pro Sport Boats

The motor problem was due to someone leaving fuel in the carbs and it turned to gel. Must have been the problem though because it had the same prop as the first time. This time the 150 turned to 5100 rpm and sure was a nice running motor.
The only other boats I have been looking or even thinking of buying was a Sea Fox ( didn't like the workmanship seemed cheap ) and a Pro Line which I really don't have an opinion on yet. Did take another Pro Sport DC out but just wasn't the boat I wanted although it was a 97 and the price was right. The cuddy is a fine boat it has been previously owned but never wet, and the price is close to what it was new I think. This year the Pro Sports had a price increase so that must mean they are selling.
JOHN

John H-
The Pro-Line is a nice boat but you will probably find them to be pricey. I've recently heard some rumblings that their new boats are not as good in quality and finish as some of their earlier boats. I'm trying to get some info on that myself, just to satisfy my sense of curiosity.

Do you have a Seaswirl (Striper) dealer near you in Alabama? My fishing buddy has the 21 CC and I was real hot on their 23 and 26 WA. They also have a 26 Sport cabin that I almost put a down payment on! The boats are well made, great performers with LOTS of standard features and quality fittings and finish. Great performance in rough water also! Take a look at them if you can.

Big E

Re: Pro Sport Boats

Have not seen a dealer for those but will look.
I heard the cap was becoming a problem on the Pro line boats. Heard they were coming loose or something to that sort, but haven't talked with anyone that has actually had a problem with them.

Re: Pro Sport Boats

Bought the new Pro Sport so guess I will let everyone know how good of a boat they are. Can't wait until I can put it in the water and really take it for a ride, although did enjoy the sea trial. Seems as though I kept finding my way back to this boat so it has to be the one. Ready to go fishing and I think the refineries know that at the way the fuel has been going up lately.

JOhn H-
I was going to add to the post to see if you were still alive!

Congratulations on your boat. Hope you have lots of good trips with it.

When do you get to put it in the water?

Also, which model did you purchase, what motor? Did you get all the goodies or did you keep it simple?

Aside from your immediate liking, what made you decide?

Re: Pro Sport Boats

Should be able to pick it up on Friday I hope!

I not sure there was any one thing that helped make the decision. This has by far been the biggest buying decision I have ever made. I guess because it was all for pleasure!

I really liked the boat, looks, rear deck room, Not a lot of room in the cuddy but only needed it for the wife and Grandkids and any other women that decide to ride with us. The boat is well geared for fishing or just playing if that is what we want to do but mostly fishing for me.
Would have liked to have had a bigger motor but the 150 Yamaha did just fine.
The boat seems to be a good quality built boat and I was impressed with the workmanship. This will be primarily used on the weekends so was having a hard time spending that much on one, although the Trophy's were much cheaper but I also wanted some resale if I ever decided to sell. I can't say much about Bayliners workmanship and I never even took a sea trial on one so don't know how they ride. I was not impressed by them enough to even get serious enough to take a ride.
Would like to take her out Saturday but am going to a Boating Class with my wife so she won't be so nervous.
I will let y'all know though when I take her out and enjoy the open blue waters...

John H-
I share a lot of your same opinions. If you get the chance, I'd like to exchange a couple of ideas.
