I am working on a full deck and stringer resto on my 93 GW Invader right now and so have the motor and drive pulled and sitting on stands. (The motor is a 4.3LX and the drive is the Alpha1 Gen2.) While everything out, I plan on giving them solid 'tune-ups'... here is what I am thinking currently:

Motor:
- New plug wires and plugs
- New distributor cap and rotor
- New belts
- New exhaust and intake manifold gaskets (too overkill?)
- New exhaust flappers
- New valve seals (too overkill?)
- New cooling hoses
***Note: I rebuilt the carb and put in a new thermostat last year, or those would be on my list

Drive:
- New Bell Housing gaskets
- New Gimball Housing seals/gaskets
- New Gimball Bearing
- New Anodes
- New Upper and Lower Drive Seal kits
- New Impeller/Water Pump kit
***Note: I did new bellows and trim sensors last year, and they are in solid condition

SO... what am I missing? Anything else you would do while you have everything off and in the stand?

Motor:
- New plug wires and plugs OK
- New distributor cap and rotor OK
- New belts Only if needed
- New exhaust and intake manifold gaskets (too overkill?) If fresh water boat I wouldn't
- New exhaust flappers OK
- New valve seals (too overkill?) Depends on hours
- New cooling hoses Remove inspect and determine
***Note: I rebuilt the carb and put in a new thermostat last year, or those would be on my list

Drive:
- New Bell Housing gaskets OK
- New Gimball Housing seals/gaskets OK
- New Gimball Bearing Probably, but my 95 Rinker is original and still fine
- New Anodes Only if you keep the boat in the water
- New Upper and Lower Drive Seal kits OK
- New Impeller/Water Pump kit OK
***Note: I did new bellows and trim sensors last year, and they are in solid condition

Check your fuel pump for leak and correct pressure

Take the starter and alternator to your local starter repair shop and have them gone thru.

If there is any rust, take care of it now
