I got to test run my 175 today after doing the decarb on it.
I seems to run ok but now i have fuel dripping out of the air intake cover and running out the cowl enough to see a oil slick on the water.
I got it home and don't see any leaks in the fuel lines. It appears to be coming out of the front of the carbs..
It was not doing this before the Seafoam decarb method??

Re: Problem after De-carb

Since de-carbon treatment has nothing to do with the carburetors, I would first look at the carburetor float valves as the source of the excess fuel.

Re: Problem after De-carb

a possibility ,the return hose on the bottom of the carb cover that brings overflowed fuel back to the engine may be all gunked up from crud settling in bottom of crankcase, you might be able to clear it with a can of spray type carb cleaner,if thats not it then as mentioned the carb floats may be allowing fuel past the needle and eat in carb.note, this often happens when the engine is tilted and the carb floats open the needle, this is normal and the reason why you need to always squeeze the ball unless the engine is lifted.the gasket around the plastic housing (if present)might not be sealing as it once did, thus allowing the residual gas to leak into the pan, then water, quite common, many just live with it,not nice to enviornment though

Re: Problem after De-carb

Thanks guys,
I did run the Seafoam mixture thru the carbs with it mixed in a small portable tank.I thought maybe it could have caused a gasket to start leaking.

I will pull the cover back off and look at the drain tube. It does look like its running out of the bottom of the cover..

If needed how hard are these carbs to rebuild?

Re: Problem after De-carb

Thanks, The kits look like about 32 to 36 per carb...AAHH whats another hundred bucks?....

Looking at the engine i noticed the silencer cover is missing the lower bolts, previous owner must have left them out.looks like the fuel is running out there. The gasket is still in place.
Also the gaskets on the carbs look original.I don't think they have ever been off the engine...26 years...
