I have a 22 foot, 1990, Walkaround Avalon with an inboard/outboard Merc. I have a dual axle trailer with standard carpeted bunks with a few rollers in the center of the trailer....

The trailer originally had two black fixed "V" type rubber stops where the cable and hook run through into the crank....I changed those stops to the clear golden yellow, roller type....

The problem I'm having is when I try to load the boat back onto the trailer, as I proceed to winch in the cable, the boat is about 2 feet below the roller stops...The stops end up hitting the bow of the boat, then I have to crank the winch pretty hard to get the boat eyelet, which is connected to the boat, over the bottom roller stop, then the eyelet is snugged between the top and bottom roller stops..., then I'm home free....

When the boat is out of the water...It seems that everything that can be adjusted on the trailer is set correctly...

This is the only part of boating that drives me nuts!!!

it does this because the stern is floating, when you get that far, pull up just a little. get to get the bow up.

Too deep

or too steep

Drive out to flat ground and finish the cranking...or gas it

The boat engine will propel the vessel nicely. I like to use the motor to move the boat

Re: Problem getting boat on trailer!

some ramps i go to are way steep and the bow can actually be under the crank. i just crank it far enough for the bow to almost be up to the crank then just pull up the ramp and finish cranking that last foot or so. i also have the bad habit of sinking my trailer like a uboat running from the british navy and end up having the same issue. easing the boat and trailer out a bit before finishing helps. im getting better but i still can hear depth charges going off now and then...

If you decide to pull out before winching the last little bit be sure you...

A)Lock the winch handle and

B)Hook your safety chain

Be Safe!!!!!
