problem removing cable from helm on Teleflex Safet-T Quick Connect

The instructions are saying to enter the pin and apply pressure and pull the cable out. It will not come off. Outer sleeve of the cable is turning freely in the helm, pushing and pulling on the cable I can feel being locked both ways, The pin feels like it's going over something square but not feeling it's actually moving anything to unlock.

I've never done it so can't help but...I do know Teleflex has tech support. I'd give em a call and see what they have to say.

Thanks for the replies.
The instructions are saying to apply pressure to the pin to release the cable shown in it's storage hole (on the side). Not mentioning to apply pressure with the pin in a different hole (on top).

Remove the pin from it's holder, push the pin into the hole. While pushing it in (hard), pull on the sheath. Then unwind by turning the wheel.

oo boy I remember this problem.
They sure should have designed those better.

remove the steering wheel.
Then remove the three bolts holding your helm to brackets
this will free up the helm from the bracket then you can hold better for cable removal
I had hell with mine.
