Re: Problem Selecting neutral

Probably a sticking lower shift cable, or a problem in the control itself.

Disconnect your cable(s) from the bracket and carburetor. You should be able to move the shift cable that goes to the outdrive by hand. Move your throttle forward and reverse to test that cable. If they move smooth then reattach them except the carburetor and try it again. If they work smoothly then you have an outdrive issue. If not then you have to adjust them to match the throttle to the drive. It happenned to me. Then I found I was shutting down everytime I shifted. Really, measure the distance they travel and adjust accordingly.

What drive? Sounds like the interrupt switch is not working or someone disconnected it because the engine was dying.
