I'm having an issue with cold starting my engine (89' 3.0L). I am never able to cold start without using throttle only. Once I have the engine warmed up, I am usually able to start it without using throttle only. It idles fine once it's warmed up but sometimes a little choppy after a cold start. It idles at ~800rpm. Could a choke adjustment fix this? I'm a beginner, any tips appreciated.

To start a cold engine you have to use the throttle only position. You will need one; two or more pumps ( to set the choke and pump some gas into the carb, and then position the lever about 1/3 up.
