Hi

I have a used Campion 505 Allante O/B from 1997, and have a problem with the transom. There has been water standing in the boat before I bought it and the transom (plywood) seems soft. I can see it around the outboard bolts and have made a hole. The plywood seems warm, moist (wet) and crumbling.

I have some questions:

Is it possible to repair the transom/the plywood in the transom?
How difficult is it? - do you have some instructions?
How do I get the old wood out open the transom top and hook it up or remove the glass fibre on the inside and take the bad wood out and replace it?
Do I have to use special epoxy fillers to treat the wood and fill in after replacing the transom (to avoid air chambers)?

I plan to repair it like this: Remove the outboard, take the deck/top of the boat off to get access to the transom, remove the glass fibre on the inside (in about width) and take the bad wood out. After that make a replacement transom in plywood, fasten it on the inside to the outside hull and reglass it with two or tree layers of glass fibre on the stern again.

I hope that you have some advice. Thanks in advance.

Best regards

Henrik
