Alright so i just got my smart tabs in and started installing them, I got the bottom part all srewed in a looking very pretty then realized that my swim ladder
A) comes right down on top of it and
B) is in the way of where i need to mount the top bracket that the top of the actuator clips on
I have a few options
A) I can make the braket smaller so that it fits in between where the ladder bolts on and a step in my transom but this may void warrenty, i kinda doubt it though because i am changing nothing about the tabs or the actuator
B) Take off my ladder and have big ugly holes i have to fill
C) Possibly just take the bottom off of my ladder and then everyone will have to struggle to get in the boat

How strong are these tabs? Like if the ladder comes down on top and people put their weight down on it while climbing up the ladder will they break?
Is their another ladder i can look into i know tons of people have these tabs and my boat is a very common style so what have you guys done??
thanks

I like Option A and you can ask Nauticus what they think of the warranty situation . . . Pictures?

i had to move mine inboard slightly of where i really wanted to mount them, just to clear my swim ladder. it worked out fine, maybe you could do the same? I agree with QC, lets see some pics.

Yah i will get some pics up sometime today i would have to practically make them touch my leg in order to completely clear the ladder and i've already installed the bottom hinge of the trim tab so i really dont want to drill any more holes than i have to...(and yes i know that was a dumb move)

I had the same issue and ordered the protroller brackets. Now the tabs can flip to an almost vertical position and the swim ladder clears by a couple of inches.

thanx FW nate for those informative pix! i've been debating the use of smart tabs on my 1995 fw horizon 190 and see how and where you've put them. i was thinking that with our "strange" stern setup, that mounting them would be harder than normal? how did you deal with the upper "step" edge where the upper shock mount goes? did you have to find some kind of spacer to use under that mount to provide a level surface? i would be very interested in hearing how much better your boat planes/rides after adding these.- bk

I got them all installed i just had to raise my ladder where it hinges up about 2 inches and now it clears the trim tab when it comes down...as for the top bracked for the actuator i had to just cut the top angle off of that bracket or else i couldnt get it mounted flush without putting too much pressure down on the trim tab i have finished picutures in this thread
