Just purchased 2015 Suzuki DF9.9B in March. First trip out salmon trolling I noticed the throttle shaft lock under the tiller would not hold the motor at my selected trolling rpm for 2.5-3 kts. I gradually tighten the lock over a few trips for fear I might strip it. After about 8 hrs of operation the knob stripped. After looking at the design in the diagrams and talking to nearest warranty dealer nearly 300 miles away I found that the threads on the knob are plastic and the end of the threaded shaft just presses against a flat piece of stainless that rests on the throttle shaft which is also stainless. The shaft has an oily surface so the 1/8" W X 1/2" L
area where the two surfaces meet is just not enough to control the throttle. What is there is useless and I hate to make the 300 mi road trip to have the dealer slap in another unit just like it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a fix of some kind? Need some help to get my hands free to move around the boat and do some catchin'.
