Hello. I just bought a 1994 Four Winns 180 Horizon with a 115 hp Johnson outboard. The boat has sat for a couple years and I had the carbs rebuilt due to not starting. While at the repair shop he also found the timing ring under the flywheel broke free from epoxy which he found out where it needed to be and re-apoxied it. the motor ran but got warm so he replace water pump and thermostats. Compression was 100-105. Now my problem, the motor starts and runs good at idle, revs up good and fast in neutral. I put it in the water and it won't get up on plane. idle is good but when throttle is increased, motor bogs down. If it stalls it will start right up. When I push key in (choke) it picks up power but not full throttle. What could be wrong? the tach does not work and I was told the tach runs off charging system. the battery could have been low (12.4 volts not running and it doesn't increase when motor running high idle). Could the motor need more volts or is it possible the fuel pumps out. The oil pump isn't working and I have oil mixed with gas. Sorry this is so long but any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
