I have recently installed a NAPA (Hoppy's) trailer wiring conversion kit on my '06 Grand Cherokee. The 'first' one was faulty right out of the box. With no lights turned 'on' in the Jeep, the left brake light is constantly 'on' on the trailer...?
The local NAPA store ordered a replacement and I installed that one, and worked just fine, for 2 trips, then same thing, left brake light stays 'on' all the time, with nothing 'on' on the Jeep...? Same thing with 3 different trailers...Anyone have any experience with these conversion kits? Thanks:confused:

Re: Problems with Trailer wireing Conversion modules

For what it's worth, over the years I have seen dozen of these solid state units go bad. Even some bad right out of the package from one of the largest nationwide hitch sales / truck rental places. ;)

Also, I had a plug and play for my Dodge Dakota which did not require the solid state part, and lost the connection inside the p n p unit for my left turn signal / brake. Hard wired that one, and the running / RT / brake are still accessed from the pnp unit....

Re: Problems with Trailer wireing Conversion modules

Yeah, I tried that with the first bad module, (hard wired the LT), but then I had no brake lights...I did splice in trailer wiring to my dad's '06 Dakota with no kit, now I wonder why that's working??? To me it's total BS, these module kits are like $80., for that they should be bullet proof. The worse thing is, all our previous Jeeps have had factory hitch & wiring, with no problems...
