Hi, I recently purchased a used procraft 1560 boat with a 85 horsepower Johnson motor. I took it for it's maiden voyage and could not get it to level off off except at high speeds. at lower speeds I feel like I'm looking straight up. also, the boat has a tendancy to bounce up and down on a still lake, again at high speeds. it does have power tilt and trim. I'm just looking for ideas as to what i can do to get it to plane out sooner, and to what causes the bouncing at high speeds, any ideas?

First off, welcome to iboats.
If you do not have the trim all the way down, it will not plane out at slow speed.
The bounce up and down is called porpoising(sp) and that is caused sometimes by having the engine trimmed to far out or up.
From dead stop, trim motor all the way down, put in gear and nail the throttle, it should stand up a little and then come back down to plane and then you can adjust thottle as you like, but too less throttle and it will come off plane, so it's something you have to play with for all boats are different.

Good luck and keep posting.
