iboats.com attends various boat builder dealer meetings and trade events throughout the year. Earlier this November we were in Orlando at the Marine Dealer Conference and Expo (MDCE) where we were introduced to a completely new and very unique powerboat, the Danalevi Powerboats' Furina 22. It stole the show with its retro look and appeal.

The beautiful boat is designed by Danalevi founder, Ross Hartman. Furina's unique lines are like a cross between a retro US automobile of the 40s and a modern luxury European sports car. Show visitors were drawn to mint green paint, nostalgia sleek "fenders", stainless accents throughout, and bow light/hood ornament, one-piece windshield supported by machined, billet aluminum framework.

She seats five in the level of comfort expected from such a stylish boat. The helm is very well laid out for function, fit then style.

The design's inspiration is vintage, "however, her technology is absolutely today." according to Ross.

The 22-foot powerboat has a modified V hull. The drive is mounted higher on the transom, which translates into improved top end performance. The boat at the show is powered by a Volvo Penta V8 380-horsepower sterndrive engine with DuoProp.

It's also available with a 350 and 430 hp engine packages. "At 60 mph the ride is smooth like a Cadillac, claims the builder.

On Furina's versatility, Hartman states, 'she's a great runabout and tender. Lakes, intracoastals, fresh or salt water. There is plenty of storage and built-in coolers, plus a swim platform. So there's form and function."

Danalevi was born from Ross Hartman's desire to introduce a powerboat that reflected the details he appreciated in retro boats and automobiles. From concept to prototype was a ten-year endeavor, which included extensive research and partnering with experts in naval architecture and engineering. This move ensured the new 22-footer would show and perform well.
