Re: professional engineers???

i'm really looking for someone who took the pe architectural exam. while i have many friends that have taken the exam, none are familiar with this one. with an undergraduate in ocean engineering, there is really no exam that macthes my study. i figured being in the construction management industry that this eam would be my best fit.

what was your study plan? review course? is 4 months enough?

Re: professional engineers???

I took the arch registration exam many years ago.
Studied my a$$ off. Mostly reviewing the commercial study guides available.
Work experience helps a lot.
The 12 hour design test was of course the hardest.
I would hate to have to do it again.
4 months should do it.

Re: professional engineers???

The EIT (Engineer in Training) was much tougher for me than the PE. Maybe because I never bothered to take the EIT (sometimes called the Fundamentals of Engineering exam) while in collage, and I ended up taking it about 10 years after graduation. I studied every day for six months, doing a lot of practice exams for that one.

For the PE, I studied for four months, again working practise exams. Ed is 100% correct about purchasing one of the review courses. I did 'learn' a lot of things that weren't in my normal area of engineering, and the courses taught me how to take the exams efficiently. I understand that now more of the tests are mulitple choice (all of the EIT was). I remember that I finished the test really early, and that it wasn't as hard as a day at work. lol.

Good luck
fp

Re: professional engineers???

if the pe ends up easier than the fe, i've have no problem. i passed the fe without an ounce of studying. but i doubt it will be the case. i do plan on gathering all the referneces i can find, studying 4-5 nights per week, and taking a review course. if anyone else has advice, please share. thanks-
