I was stuck trying to figure out the dash pieces and foot rest for a long time. the window never really lined up from the beginning, but i tried every way i could to line it up. ended up gettting it within 1/2" from from perfect.
then there were the bow seats. im running out of the 6 sheets of 1/2" marine ply really quick. so after about a week at trying how to figure it out, i called a good friend who is a shop teacher to come help me out. now i know i have enough wood.

http://www.shareaproject.com/pages/projectTut,p,63,00.html

Thsts awsome, I got lucky with the stringers/transome. I never though of doin the seat bases in two parts like you did. Mine came out as 1 piece so I figured they had to be that way.

That boat's looking nice. I have a 1991 searay 170 that I'm working on and I 'm wanting to recoat the Dash because it's faded. Do you have any suggections on what to use?

the driver bow seat base is the only one in two pieces. i thought that was better than piecing the top arc piece together. nifty wood management. when done ill prob have about half of a milk crate filled with scraps out of 6 4x8 sheets.
searyan - i havent even thought about coating anything yet. i plan on getting it pretty after i get it wet. are you talking paint or Upholstery? i painted under my floor with rustoleum.

I meant the acually Dash with the Gauges.I not sure what type of paint is the best to coat it with.

You could post this as a question but you should throughly clean the dash and use vinyl dye to repaint it. As stated it really is a dye and works like paint. believe me it actually bonds to the vinyl not just coat it like paint.

Now that is a job to be proud of. When it starts coming together it makes you forget all the times you ask yourself why in the world did I do this.

Re: Progress!! (new pics)

lots of work is right. couldnt even possible come up with a number of hrs spent working on it, not counting about the same amount of time just looking at it. trying to figure out problems. my worst problem im going to have about the boat when it touches water, is if you look at it, there will no way to tell that i have spent about $2500 on it until i spend the few extra bucks and finish the interior. but i dont see that happening until winter. need to use the fruits of my labor for at least a couple months before i tear apart the cushions.
my bet is, that the first weekend the boat will be ready for water, will be the worst weekend of the summer to bo on the water. THE 4TH OF JULY (i call it amature weekend, same with the other summer holidays)good luck keeping me from going to the lake right after that motor fires up! (again)(hope-hope) there are only a few times breaking personal rules i think are OK. i bet this will be one, if it fires up on the 4th.
