I’m sending this mostly to warn people to check over a used boat real close before you buy.
As in my case, even if it’s a relative, THEY may not know how bad of shape it’s really in.
This link below will show the boat I bought for $1200.00. (I did get a good running 50hp evinrude with it.)
My first thoughts were a good cleaning and a little paint and this would be a great fishin boat for me and the wife (and it will be). I quickly found out that all the wood was rotted be on just a simple repair.
As you can see, im just finishing up the transom after removing most of the boat from the hull.
I have to say, even though I got a surprise, I really am enjoying this project. its been a learning experience and this sight has helped allot so far.

Also, if anyone could help Identify this baby it would be greatly appreciated.
My father in-law had it titled as a home made years ago but I don’t think it is.

http://www.clubphoto.com/reward.php?id=2556865&mid=members1_scott893520&pwd

Nice progress!

Can't offer a suggestion on make/model, but maybe if you posted a good picture over at FiberGlassics someone might recognize-it.

Re: Progress of the “Y hurry”

Looks a lot like my former boat. Mine was a Bucaneer, an 18' deck boat. It was rated for a 115hp motor and held 8 people. It was a great family boat and very versatile. Mine needed a new floor, so I sold it cheap and got a newer one. What is the hull # (on rear right of boat) that may give a clue as to the manufacturer. The Bucaneer was a heavy, tri-hull deck boat, it was great. What is the length of yours?

I saw some where on this board some one posted a link to the USCG where you put in your serial # and it gives you the manufacturer of the boat ... just cant remember where I saw it ...
Jon

Interesting boat. You can configure it about any way you want now, you don't have to go with the way it was. Maybe go with a side console and format it like a modern deck boat, or go center console and make it a fishin' rig. At least when you are done you won't have to wonder what condition it is in. Good luck...

I appreciate the info and thoughts .
BH357,I had no idea there was so much info on the coast guard site.
JasonJ..Thanks it makes me think. I already have it torn apart, why not make it my boat instead of ANP’s
