I do want to steer from the back as this is mostly a walleye fishing boat. Any Suggestions?

http://www.wyomingben.com/Boatpaint/DSC09561.jpg

http://www.wyomingben.com/Boatpaint/DSC09563.jpg

The Transom, with the old stern drive hole filled I'm going to mount a 200hp Mercury (Long Shaft) Any suggestions here also?

http://www.wyomingben.com/Boatpaint/DSC09564.jpg

This is my project motor, its a 1983 200hp Mercury, its supposed to be a good runner, the guy I bought it from bought it for $1500 to replace his motor that died during fishing season, he put it on his Lund while he was getting his Mariner fixed, This LONG Shaft motor was to long for his boat and he had it up really high on a jack plate. His transom was getting torn up with all the weight way up off the transom, so he hurried to get his old motor working, he had to rob some parts off of the Mercury. I know the Starter and Trigger are missing from this motor, can anyone else see what else I will need? I have no experience with these motors? Anyway I got it with the controls and trim/tilt for $425 its supposed to have a new block in it, anyway to know for sure? Here are some pics

Right side looking in

http://www.wyomingben.com/Boatpaint/DSC09565.jpg

Left Side Looking in

http://www.wyomingben.com/Boatpaint/DSC09566.jpg

Thanks Wyomingben

Wyoben, don't sweat the ebay thing, I don't think anyone here has expressed a dislike for Ebay businesses. Heck, we all buy so much stuff from there we would be a bit hypocritical. Some may have had negative experiences with Ebay, but thats just how it goes. Me, I have not purchased any manuals from you as I have not needed any, but the girls have made me want to buy a manual or two just in appreciation... :D :D

(Hope none are your daughters or girlfriends :D )

They are all my girl friends and every greasy gear head in America's too............

Just Kidding, no we generally provide excellent service for an unbeatable price, but you can't make everyone happy........ If you think you can try selling enough stuff on eBay to make a living at it, the public is tough on big internet business.

The Girls are all University of Wyoming Students, we have no other natural resources here, just a bunch of red dirt and sage brush. I'm just doing what I can with what we have.

Yeah, I've been through Wyoming a few times. Pretty desolete place, but it has plenty of missile silos....Its like Kansas with hills...It does have Devils Tower though, which is pretty cool.

Re: Progress Pics........... FLAMES ANYONE?

I read this website

http://www.customflamepainting.com/how_to/

I took there flame template and resized it to about double on my computer. I used the same template on the whole boat. I kept flipping the template over so it would not look to uniform, yet uniform enough, I outlined the template with a marker then taped it off with 1/8 inch 3M blue tape, any thing wider won't bend enough. I sprayed it on with a HPLV Gun (Husky Brand) I bought from Home Depot. It sprays good and saves paint, but it is hard to get good coverage with out orange peel. I would not recomend this gun for large surfaces like boat hulls. I am considering paining more flames on the topside side surfaces below the windscreen, what do you think, too much? Leave it? or more flames?

Thanks for the Prase on the shop, I should of took pics when I got it done and posted them, now everything is covered in freak'in fiberglass dust.

One thing I came up with that worked pretty good is my redneck paint booth. I got some giant tarps, pullies, and clothes line rope at the Wall Mart. I attached on end of the tarps to the ceiling with 2x4's. The other end (on the Floor) I screwed some old corral poles all the way across. I connected one end of the rope to the ceiling on the back side, looped it under the tarps, back up through a pully on the front on the ceiling and back down. All four sides roll up like an awning, I can tie off the ropes to the walls when not in use. When I drop the tarps I used clamps to connect the corners. A spray down with a garden hose and I had a pretty good paint booth. I used a series of house hold box fans for a vent, but that part needs more thought.

Anyway that's what I did, and maybe it will help someone with there project.

Wyomingben

So is that gun what you used to paint the hull or just the flames? I am most interested in the hull.

T

Re: Progress Pics........... FLAMES ANYONE?

I have sprayed everything on the boat with that gun, I have spent a lot of time sanding and buffing out orange peel and runs. Polyurathan is not as easy to spray as acylics, then again I'm no painter. I would suggest a conventional spray gun for the hull if you decide to spray the paint on.
