After a lengthy absence, Im back with a new project. I likely won't be starting on it until warmer weather as I dont have a pole barn big enough for it to fit in. Yet!?!? The wife says I can build one this summer if I want to.
The boat,
First off let me say "Its a basket case" but I could no pass it up for the price.
The good stuff: 454 Magnum with a Bravo One drive that both seem to be in good working order. Most all of the big parts came with it so that's a huge plus. Complete interior that is in very good shape. No water intrusion that I have found so far. I did drill the stringers and transom then tested with a moisture meter that I brought along when I looked at it. The very bottom of the transom had about 20% moisture, but I figure that is pretty normal. Kiln dried wood from the home store has 6-10% moisture and its called dry. Stringers were below 15% and the furniture in your home will read close to that. I also got all of the rub rails and a functioning lift motor for the engine hatch.
The bad stuff: It has been apart for a few years and at least two other owners. It is missing quite a few small parts and has had some less than stellar repairs done along the way. Both of them SANDED the hull to remove a painted on name from the side of the boat. Then one or both of them filled in some screw holes with bondo and sanded some more. The outside is really a wreck and is a prime candidate for a wrap after its fixed properly. The last two guys had good intensions I'm sure but lost interest. It came from OK and now resides in MI. Now it falls to me to return her to the former glory she once commanded.
The trailer: it is in overall good repair. It has a couple rust holes in the fenders and the surge brakes are toast. But the lights worked when I plugged them in so I call it a win.
I will be posting pics (when I figure out how to make them the correct size on a MAC for the forum) and such as I go along and asking some questions also as I have no experience with a Bravo drive or a BBC.
One question that I will post again later on in the correct place,
Just wondering if anyone has a line on a windshield? I know they are not readily available and I can make one. But if there is one out there for a good price I would be interested.
