Picked up a 1982 17' Mako Angler. Hull is in great shape, just need a new paintjob and some real minor fiberglass work. The motor is pretty much shot, so I will be looking for a new one.

However, my question is...there aren't any guages, and no way to tell exactly how much fuel is in my fuel tank (it has premixed gas)...

If I will be working on this boat for the next 2 or 3 months (maybe longer), what should I do with the fuel already in the tank (which im completely unaware of how much or little is in there). Should I just siphon all of it out?

if you dont know how old it is, I would get rid of it. Cause you more truble than it is worth.

Re: Project Mako

get a hose that will fit thru the transom drain, and siphon out thru the access panel.

Re: Project Mako

So its better to let the tank sit empty? Rather than have who knows how old 2 stroke mixed gas sitting in there?

I have not decided what I will repower with....but whenver that happens, I definitely would not want to burn this gas through whatever motor it is.
