I want to rebuild and replicate a component that forms one side of the engine compartment of a 1984 Sea Ray. From the picture below, one can see the rotted material. My question is two fold: What type of materials should I use to rebuild this and where should I buy them?

Thats easy go to home depot or lowes and buy a 4x8 extereior plywood board of 3/4" whatever it is you have there and it looks like a 2x2 and you can get that in the treated lumber decking area, they use them on the railings. Screws of stainless will last forever and monel staples for the carpet and your done.

Re: Project Materials

The carpet is marine grade and you can order that through several outlets such as Cabela's or West Marine. The carpet they sell comes from Redrum distributors and it's all the same. The difference is in the grades. Stay away from the high end, premier quality stuff, it's too thick and will throw your fit off by as much as 1/2" in some cases. I have personal experiernce with that so just trust me.

Ayuh,...

Looks like 2 pieces of Plywood,+ a 2x2....

I'd go with P/T,+ be Done with it...
