Its been awhile since I posted , my Baja SS 184 has been sitting idle for the most part. Had to cut firewood to keep warm this winter , then had to get my snowplow mounted on my newer truck... the list goes on and on. But I did finally spend some quality time on it in hte last few days. The front seat wooden frames have been removed ROTTEN.. The transom is 90 percent out .. can you say waterlogged !!!! I removed enough of the rear stringers to get at the transom .. Stringers were broken and fiberglass had relieased from parts of the stringers. All that remains is a small chunk of the floor in the front and the small compartment and floatation in the nose. Its all gonna come out, while I think the foam in hte nose is probably ok , I have some changes I want to do to the front compartment and I fugure why risk the foam being wet on the bottom. I have found no foam in this boat to be dry. When it comes time to put holes in my nice new transom (weeks away ) I will certainly pour lots of epoxy in the holes then when reassembling it silicone calk for that last little bit. I bet the transom weighed in double what it did when new. it was nice to see little rot. but when the Skil saw slings water as it cuts.. I think it needed replacing !
