It's time to put the 24' Starcraft away for it's winter rest. The preventive maintence is all done and now it's time for the final wrap. Here's how I cover my boat for the winter.
Here's what it'll end up looking like
I just started today after work so this will be a work in progress. First thing I do is remove the winshield from the console. I have two saw horses which I put on the deck. I have two 16' 2 x 4's which are stood on edge on the saw horses and three pieces of 4' wide plywood which total 16' in length. The plywood is screwed to the 2x4's with 1-5/8" deck screws and the 2x4's screwed to the saw horses.
Notice in the last picture I have another piece of plywood on an angle. This shields the console from any snow weight on the tarp.
Tomorrows pictures will show the bracing under the 2x4's which support the "upper deck". The front of the plywood and the edges where the saw horses stick out will get a double layer of heavy cardboard staples to them to keep sharp edges away from the tarp.
