Hey!! So my first prop question!!

My boat has a 2005 115hp 2+2 2 stroke Merc. on it.

It came with a michigan apollo 13 1/4 17 stainless steal prop.

She jumps up nicely, but I am getting 37 mph on gps, with my average load. The problem is it is over revving.

with out trimming my tach shows over 5400 rpm at WOT , and increases if I give it a little bit of trim. The motor is 4750-5250 range.

I have talked to alot of people , who say 19 pitch is the way to go.

I think, from my research here, that I would be good with a 13 diameter, 21P!

Anyone have any thoughts, info, experience with my motor boat to hlep me decide??

Ayuh,... My guess is, the 19" will be Right, 'n the motor will lug, 'n get on plane, poorly with the 21"...

Bond-o, thanks for the reply. The drop in 1/4 diameter wont make any difference in the grand scheme of things? I seem to be over the max rpm range by atleast 400 rpms..

Ayuh,... The Diameter is figured in Way back in the design phase,....

Ya buy props by Pitch...

The entire universe is tellin me to go with the 19 pitch. I am guessing it is the one I should go with. I am goin to see if I can find a shop to lend me one, just to prove my own thick unexperienced head wrong...LOL

I'm with them it appears your 17 is about normal except not quite enough pitch. A 19 seems ideal. Don't worry about the diameter.
It is secondary and many times as pitch goes up diameter comes down.
