Thank you to everyone who can help. I had some oil coming out of the lower unit where the prop shaft seal is pressed in. Removed the hub by removing the 4 allen screws (surprisingly not that difficult considering it could have been stuck to the housing a bit). Replaced the seals, o-rings, etc. that came in the kit. Now the hard part...

The 4 allen screws dont appear to be long enough to reinstall everything, and I know they are the same ones I removed originally. My questions are:

1. How far back should the hub be in the lower housing?

2. Is the front supposed to be flush to the housing rim, or does it set back a bit for the screws to thread properly?

3. This repair appeared so straight forward, am i missing a step with the install?

Thanks again for suggestions. I will check back as often as possible to update and respond to further info asked.

Re: Prop and hub removal in reinstall

It has to sit back into the g/c far enough so the laby seals in the g/c are exposed.

Re: Prop and hub removal in reinstall

Thanks for the reply. On the side facing the transom, there is a bearing pressed in which is flush with the edge of the hub. I am thinking that it should be pressed in enough to seat on the inside "ledge". Alot like the racers inside trailer axel hubs when doing the bearings.... i will recheck everything tomorrow.

Thanks again
